Royal Enfield, the global leader in the medium displacement motorcycle segment (250 cm3 – 750 cm3), today unveiled the new Himalayan at the EICMA 2023 Milan Motor Show in Italy. Based on the powertrain integrated into a newer, lighter and more technologically advanced Royal Enfield vehicle, the new Himalayan uses the new Sherpa 450 liquid-cooled engine and features a host of new integrated technological features that enhance the adventure experience on your new bike. Unveiled today to global audiences, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan will be launched in India before the end of the year, and will then be available in other regions.

Royal Enfield has a long association with the Himalayas, which has been the brand’s spiritual home and creative inspiration. The original Himalayan was inspired by the 60-year tradition of exploring the Himalayas on a motorcycle, and was created in the Himalayas. A specially designed, confidence-inspiring and competent go-anywhere bike, the Himalayan has repeatedly proven its worth as the ideal motorcycle for adventure riding in these incredible mountains. It has been the bike of choice for thousands of explorers around the world who have ridden it to cross a multitude of locations and terrains, thus creating a niche subcategory of adventure that is real, sensory and accessible. The new Himalayan represents an evolution, a development of this premise, taking it to another level.

Speaking about the brand’s connection to the mountains, and the inspiration for the new Himalayan, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director, Eicher Motors Ltd. said: “At Royal Enfield, we’ve had a strong connection to the Himalayas for over 60 years, and that led us to create the first Himalayan in 2016. We had fantastic feedback for a specially designed adventure bike, and that’s what encouraged us to launch a brand new Himalayan.

This bike has been designed with the new Sherpa 450 water-cooled engine, a 6-speed gearbox and is totally suited to the Himalayas. It has a single purpose: to do incredibly well in the unpredictable terrain and weather conditions of the Himalayas.

Source:https://www.royalenfield.com

We created this bike to be the best in the world in this field. We’ve developed the chassis and ergonomics to make it fantastic for adventure. It’s “the” bike you’ll need for any purpose, anywhere in the world, because if you can cross the Himalayas, you can beat anything in the world.

The Himalayas are an ever-changing landscape and exploring this region requires a change of plans at every step; from the different weather conditions to the unpredictable terrain and rivers that can be almost dry in the morning and the height of the mudguard at night. The new Himalayan has been designed to adapt to all these conditions, from the large air intake that prevents water from entering to the sturdy frame and luggage bars ready to take all the strain when things don’t go according to plan. The improvements to the original model were based on time spent in the seat, from epic journeys exploring the wildest mountains to riding in everyday situations. In addition, the bike was tested and developed by explorers, citizens of the world, experts and riders of all abilities in a wide variety of conditions, both on wilderness adventure trips and in controlled test centers in the UK, Spain and India. This testing program has resulted in a truly versatile bike that is ready for anything and puts a smile on the face of every rider, regardless of their skills.

Speaking about the insights behind the design of the new Himalayan and the development process of the motorcycle, CEO B Govindarajan said: “Before we started working on the new Himalayan, we rode with our consumers and spoke to citizens of the world, explorers and athletes. With the help of these insights and our own experience, we decided what critical DNA to keep and what we should evolve in the new Himalayan. The new Himalayan 450 features the Sherpa 450 liquid-cooled engine, the first of its kind from Royal Enfield. It’s also the first time we’ve had Ride-by-Wire functionality on our bike, which provides the ideal power and torque for challenging terrain. In addition, for the first time in collaboration with Google Maps, we have TripperDash with full map navigation. We rigorously tested this bike for over 5500 km, from 3 meters above sea level in Chennai to almost 5,800 meters above sea level in UmLing La. The new Himalayan is thus a combination of expert insights, new technology and true Royal Enfield DNA.”

Knowing that there aren’t many medium-cylinder cruiser bikes on the market at an affordable price – even though there are many fans of this type of machine – Royal Enfield has rightly chosen to launch a new model, equipped with a twin-cylinder engine that has already been proven in the Interceptor and Continental GT.

The oldest motorcycle brand in the world (producing motorcycles without interruption) considers this to be a true medium-cylinder cruiser (or custom), in which the two-cylinder parallel air/oil-cooled engine is well suited to the model’s pretensions. It’s a quality proposition, which Royal considers to be premium compared to anything it has produced in the past, and which still has a very attractive final price. And it’s called the Super Meteor because there already was (and will continue to be) a Meteor in the range, although the bike on these pages is typically more cruiser in style than the simpler, city single-cylinder Meteor, with clear differences in rider ergonomics too. However, these names are nothing new at Royal Enfield, as in the 1950s we could already find the Meteor and Super Meteor, with 700 cc engines that already offered interesting performance, albeit in a more naked format, in keeping with the times, and less custom than the current bike. Even so, at the time, specific bikes were produced for the USA, with much larger and stylized handlebars, in true American fashion. But let’s focus on the novelty.

FEATURES

Source:Royal Enfield

To make an “authentic” cruiser, Royal Enfield opted for traditional components: a teardrop-shaped tank, wide, curved handlebars, a low seat and a front wheel that was larger than the rear, in this case 19 inches at the front and 16” at the rear, both made of light alloy The engine is a 648 cc parallel twin cylinder that produces 47 hp at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 52 Nm at 5,650 rpm, and the gearbox is a 6-speed gearbox. An engine that, compared to the 650 naked bikes already known, has changes to the intake and exhaust for better performance. There are a few highlights on the bike: the tubular steel frame is new, developed in conjunction with Harris Performance in line with the model’s philosophy, and the front end features a Showa SFF-BP inverted fork, with 43 mm and 120 mm of travel, which is the first time the brand has used an inverted unit on a production model. The suspension was developed in conjunction with the seat and Ceat tires for the best possible performance and comfort.

At the rear, the two Showa monoshock units have 81 mm of travel and spring preload adjustment. The 150/80B-16 rear tire is also the widest in the entire range, and in terms of brakes, Bybre units (a Brembo brand) are fitted with a disc on each axle and Bosch two-channel ABS. The seat is placed just 740 mm from the ground, the tank has a capacity of 15.7 liters and the Super Meteor weighs 241 kg in running order, which, let’s face it, feels a lot lower when you ride it. This model can be found in monochrome or two-tone versions, and in the latter case we can also opt for a Tourer version, i.e. equipped with a Touring seat (one-piece), windshield and backrest for the passenger, all for an interesting and more inviting price than buying the accessories separately. Speaking of these genuine Royal Enfield accessories, they are varied and can not only change the Super Meteor in aesthetic terms, but also benefit comfort and versatility through various types of luggage. Even other types of rims are available, revealing the care that the Indian brand is taking in this important market segment.

FOR EVERYONE

Source:Royal Enfield

Intended to be an accessible motorcycle for everyone, when riding and when buying, we still like to see good details such as the analog-digital instrumentation with turn-by-turn navigation, LED headlight and taillight, new controls with aluminum finishes, the aforementioned wide range of accessories and even a USB port behind one of the side panels.

With all these features, Royal Enfield aims to reach a wide range of users, such as new riders with A2 licenses, women, traditional fans of the brand and even more experienced riders who want a simple bike for pleasant trips.

IN THE CITY

Source:Royal Enfield

The meeting point was the brand’s beautiful dealership in the city of Valencia, where we had a more detailed presentation of the model and were able to see the Tourer version, in my opinion less attractive in aesthetic terms (less purity in the lines) but with its natural added value in terms of comfort and versatility. And our first impressions of the Super Meteor were very positive, even before we started our first relationship. The model has good finishes, and if we compare it with the Interceptor and Continental GT (which were present in the store) the evolution is noticeable in terms of controls, steering tables and various finishes. The design of the engine covers is very interesting and, with the exception of a few simple plastics, the Super Meteor is well built and has very pleasing lines, in a more retro construction (not least because of the type of air/oil-cooled engine) than the Japanese rivals Honda CMX500 Rebel and Kawasaki Vulcan S, although those responsible at Royal Enfield don’t exactly consider them rivals… The sound of the exhausts is also very attractive, a kind of “bubbling” that totally matches the characteristics of the model, equipped with an engine that is really smooth, linear and full, perfect for the city! Super “round”, with few vibrations and a good gearbox, it really is a delight to ride this bike around town, even if we’re going with our feet forward as the cruiser segment “demands”. The position is pleasant, the handlebars are the right size, and in terms of ergonomics the Super Meteor can accommodate riders of varying statures (and experience).

ON THE ROAD

Source:Royal Enfield

The two-cylinder can also be ridden in 6th gear at 60 km/h, but it’s in the middle gears that it feels most at home, although we can’t check the rpm on the pretty but overly simple instrumentation, as it doesn’t even give us information about average consumption. On the open road, the engine is still pleasant, but here we wouldn’t mind if it were slightly more powerful. And we feel that way because the bike’s handling is another of the Super Meteor’s strong points, with the frame and suspension allowing for some cornering at good speeds without the whole thing feeling out of balance. And in the slower corners, the ground clearance allows for good gradients without any element touching the ground, which does happen, but only when you push it a bit for the photos. In terms of absorbing irregularities, the suspension also delivers, with a good mix of comfort and performance that is in no way inferior to the best cruisers, at least when riding solo. In the fastest areas, we reached 150 km/h without running out of steam, while trying to keep our boots on their landings…

The brakes also passed the test, the rear being powerful and more sensitive than the front, so we could feel the ABS coming into play. At the front, the decelerating power is sufficient and doesn’t scare you, you just have to squeeze the lever harder if necessary. To put it on the center stand, you do need to apply some force. It’s a component that’s not usually seen, but it does come in handy, if only for servicing the transmission kit and rear wheel.

Dynamically, there’s nothing to fault with the “made in India” Ceat tires, so the Super Meteor passed this test with flying colors! Royal Enfield has been evolving the quality of its products, and this can be seen in this model, a very easy and pleasant bike to ride, excellent even in the city, but which will not fail to please fans of front-foot riding. And whether it’s with the Tourer version or with the inclusion of various accessories, this bike will be able to make good road trips, at a calm pace from the start, but with the certainty that the cycling allows for a lively pace. And there are decorations to suit all tastes, so for those who like it, the best thing is to visit the brand’s website or go to one of the beautiful Royal Enfield stores in various parts of the country.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been photographed in two new color options, as well as in the livery that had been featured in recent promotional photographs.

The light gray scheme that Royal Enfield used in a teaser released earlier this month for the forthcoming Himalayan 450 also features a kind of “digital camouflage” on the tank and side surface, as new photographs published by Rushlane reveal.

The newly discovered colors include an elegant black and yellow design with gold rims and a contrasting grey scheme that uses red details on the side fairings, tank and black rims, and the same shade of red for the Royal Enfield logo on the crash protection.

Apart from the paintwork, the bikes look identical, indicating that the colors are a unique choice, not part of a wider set or specification level, as has been seen on some of Enfield’s other models, such as the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, which has different colors between the Supernova, Stellar and Fireball specifications.

Official information remains scant for the Himalayan 450, with the Indian manufacturer set to reveal more details at the bike’s official launch on November 7, 2023.

Enfield’s previous communications about what has become one of its most anticipated models have included almost nothing, apart from confirmations that the bike exists and that the aforementioned date of November 7 is set for its official launch.

There’s no longer any doubt about the shape or the name. After years of speculation, we finally know, without any margin for error, what the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 will look like. We’ve talked about it so many times, because there’s so much curiosity about a bike that, as the Indian manufacturer rightly points out in its latest teaser, has created a real movement since its debut in 2016, becoming a cult vehicle like few others have managed in recent times. The new Himalayan will be a technical twist, but will retain the same philosophy and spirit of the bike “built from the Himalayas”.

As can be seen in the photographs that have appeared on Royal Enfield’s Instagram profile, the new 452 is precisely the one that has been identified several times in recent months and therefore has a more modern and more flexible shape than its predecessor. You can also clearly see the inverted front fork and, above all, the liquid-cooled radiator. The design is completely different, but the split seat remains and is very low for an enduro. The exhaust is shorter and narrower, the engine has a much more modern look with the cylinder tilted slightly forward and a small engine guard. The characteristic protection bars on the side of the tank remain, but have changed shape, and are now more elegant and dynamic.

On the home page of Royal Enfield India’s website there is an image of the Himalayan seen three-quarters facing with the Himalayas in the background and it shows two pieces of information: the first is “the final test”, which leads us to assume that it is in progress and that we will therefore have even more details soon.

Source:https://www.moto.it

This takes you to a page showing the countdown to November 7, 2023, the date of the official launch of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 in 2024 and the first day of EICMA. Further down, we find the classic form to leave your details and, further down, the same video we showed you above.

But that’s not all, because the data is already circulating on the internet: the exact cubic capacity is 451.65 cubic meters and the power is 40 hp at 8,000 rpm (so obviously it revs higher than the current one, but not at stratospheric speeds). As well as being water-cooled, the new engine obviously has electronic fuel injection, but also two overhead camshafts and four valves. So it’s definitely more modern.

The dimensions and weight have also been disclosed: the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 measures 2,245 mm in length, is 1,316 mm high and 852 mm wide. The wheelbase is 1,510 mm, the unladen weight is 196 kg and the total permitted weight is 394 kg. Depending on the windshield, the height increases to 1415 mm and, depending on the hand protection, the width reaches 900 mm. This means that the new Himalayan 452 weighs around 3 kg less than its predecessor. A good result, although those hoping for a miracle may be a little disappointed. Another very welcome novelty, however, is that the gearbox should have sixth gear, much sought after by those who also use the Himalayan on long journeys.

The new Himalayan is a change not only in appearance, but also in technical essence, as we’ve already told you. Power has been increased, but the charm of the air-cooled single-cylinder has perhaps been lost, what do you think?

We’ll just have to wait a little longer, but what do you think of the new design?

With more technology, updated features and also some comfort items for your daily ride, Royal Enfield has launched some updates for the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 for the 2024 model year in France.

Royal Enfield has been on the rise for some time now, and the brand has been developing its model range. In the 650cc class, the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 were both RE’s main mid-range offerings until the launch of the Super Meteor 650. Bringing the standard model and cafe racer into a more modern era. RE has brought a series of updates to its original 650 bikes with hardware upgrades and new looks for 2024 as standard equipment.

Both retro models received LED headlights. Still round in shape, but now with a bright white light, the upgrade will increase the premium factor of the two bikes.

Source:https://www.rideapart.com

No updates have been made to the engine or other hardware for these bikes, so we still get the classic RE performance with a 647.95 cc twin-cylinder engine with 46.8 horsepower, six-speed manual transmission with slipper clutch, a 320 mm disc at the front, a 240 mm disc at the rear, anti-lock brakes at both ends, standard forks at the front and twin gas shock absorbers at the rear.

Like the Super Meteor, the Chennai manufacturer has also gone further with its switches, opting for a new set of switches on both sides to revamp the cabin and other contact points on the bike. The handlebars and ergonomics of the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 remain unchanged, with the exception of the updated seat, which Royal Enfield claims is better than that of previous years. For this update, more padding equals more comfort, so RE decided to add a little more comfort this time.

Source:https://www.rideapart.com

Next comes the USB port. While it could be argued that this port takes away from the classic, simple appeal of the 650, I’d say it’s definitely a convenience feature that any modern driver shouldn’t ignore. The port is a USB type A unit, which is used to charge the cell phone. When not in use, a waterproof flap keeps it away from moisture and dust.

Finally, no updated RE model would be complete without this, but a new set of paint schemes and hardware options. Potential buyers of either 650 will be able to select one of the two finishes offered by the classic brand. There are also variants for both models that will be fitted with spoked wheels, chrome engine covers and chrome exhausts. If you don’t prefer a more discreet look, variants with alloy wheels, black engine covers and black exhausts are available.

As for the price in France, the Interceptor 650 will cost €7,390. Meanwhile, the Continental GT 650 goes for €7,690.

One of this year’s most anticipated motorcycles, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will soon be launched, and its homologation documents have been released, revealing some interesting details.

First of all, the most exciting part – the engine. The adventure bike gets a new 451.65cc liquid-cooled engine with 40 hp. That’s right, this is a modern adventure bike that produces an impressive amount of power, just 3 hp less than the KTM 390 Adventure. We expect it to produce around 40-45Nm, more focused on performance.

We now also know some of the bike’s dimensions, which you can see below.

Source:https://www.bikedekho.com

Regarding the weight of the bike, the homologation document mentions that the total weight of the bike is 394kg. Considering that the new Himalayan 450 will have a load capacity of 180kg (approximately), the ADV’s running weight will be around 210kg.

Yes, it’s quite heavy for an adventure bike, however, with its long wheelbase of 1510mm, the bike should be very stable at high speeds on highways. For reference, the KTM 390 Adventure has a wheelbase of 1430 mm. Now, it’s clear that tackling tight trails will be quite a task for the new Himalayan, but it should still be an excellent choice on faster off-road terrain – courtesy of the 21/19-inch wheel configuration, the riding stance and the suspension.

Source:https://www.bikedekho.com

We expect the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 to be launched in the coming months, probably to coincide with this year’s Rider Mania event, scheduled for November 24-26.

A dazzling symbol of limitless resilience and a benchmark in motorcycling history, the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 continues its legendary legacy in a new format, now that Royal Enfield, the global leader in the mid-size motorcycle segment (250 cc-750 cc), has announced the launch of the Bullet 350 2023. Presented with Royal Enfield’s acclaimed, super refined and smooth J-series engine platform, it is with pride that this iconic motorcycle, with a legacy of over nine decades, continues to be a fusion of resilient aesthetics and manufacturing excellence, reflecting the vibrant culture catalyzed over the past nine decades and the community and characters it represents.

If ever there was a motorcycle that has stood the test of time, it is undoubtedly the legendary Royal Enfield Bullet. When it was launched in 1932, its advanced features proved to be at the forefront of motorcycle design. Radically updated in 1948, its innovative swing-arm rear suspension revolutionized the world of motorcycling, and other motorcycle manufacturers quickly adopted the concept.

Its prowess on the most challenging terrain, its success in the service of the Indian armed forces and the subsequent switch to production in Madras in 1955 were the starting point for its meteoric rise, becoming, over the decades, the queen of Indian roads. Reinvented in 2010 with Royal Enfield’s seminal UCE engine, it ensured that it would continue to inspire as a cultural and motorcycling icon. There’s very little you can’t do on a Bullet! Throughout its remarkable journey, the Bullet has accomplished just about every task imaginable, including winning prizes in competitions such as the Sei Giorni Internazionale, setting speed records on the Isle of Man, traversing the highest mountainous areas, being a companion on all kinds of journeys, from weekend getaways to round-the-world adventures, used as a reliable and sturdy means of transport, used as a versatile platform for customization and companion as the loyal partner of more than a million motorcycle enthusiasts around the world.

The Bullet 350 2023 is powered by the acclaimed 349 cc air-oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, which also powers the Meteor, Classic and HNTR. With fuel injection, it produces 20.2 hp at 6100 rpm and 27 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm, resulting in solid responsiveness at low revs, super-smooth linear power and an agile, invigorating ride. With a primary balancer shaft that reduces vibrations, it has a good response, gear changes are precise and smooth thanks to the optimized 5-speed gearbox, which ensures an excellent driving experience. The chassis has been designed to provide better handling and maneuverability. Firmer than previous versions of the Bullet, it offers more confidence when cornering at higher speeds and is balanced and stable on fast roads. Everything is improved by the 41 mm larger diameter front fork and the wider section tires, one 100/90 -19 at the front and the other 120/80 -18 at the rear, compared to the other versions of the Bullet. The front is equipped with a 300 mm disc brake and the rear with a 270 mm disc brake. Comfort is guaranteed by the new approach to the single seat, which, along with the redesigned mudguards, contributes to the subtly developed style, a marked improvement in the balance between proportion, posture and aesthetics of the bike. The Bullet 350 2023 for Europe is launched in two different editions, with charming handmade finishes of excellence. The Bullet Standard (PVPR €5,287) in Black or Maroon is equipped with two-way ABS and rear disc, with elegant hand-finished tank and chassis-colored components, as well as chrome and gold symbols. The Bullet Black Gold (PVPR €5,387) is a premium variant with finishes based on a fantastic combination of matte and gloss black tank, copper and gold 3D symbol, copper-colored stripes, and includes two-way ABS and rear disc brake. Both European editions feature an original 13-liter drop tank and the traditional Royal Enfield frame, which includes a new headlight and the “tiger eyes”, or pilot lights, that have been a hallmark of Royal Enfield motorcycles since 1954. More contemporary touches include the new digital/analog instrument cluster, which incorporates an LCD information panel and a USB charging point mounted below the handlebars.

The Bullet 350 2023 will be supported by an ecosystem of 28 Genuine Motorcycle Accessories, including nine specifically designed and developed for the Bullet. These include comfortable touring and low-rise seats, and touring handlebars. There is also a selection of high-quality motorcycle equipment, including helmets and clothing with details that recall the legendary Bullet stripes. There’s no bike like the Bullet. True to its heritage, but updated and relevant to new generations of riders, the Bullet reflects Royal Enfield’s “pure motorcycling” DNA. Royal Enfield believes that the time has come for the world to see the Bullet with new eyes, to fall in love all over again with this authentic symbol of understated style and timeless resilience.

The only official news that the Himalayan 450 exists is in this short and very brief video published on Royal Enfield’s official social channels last week.

Everything else we know about the bike is rumors, photographs and patent information gathered by journalists. Today, however, we may have some of the most revealing images of the bike, after the Asian website RushLane obtained some images, taken while one of the new machines was being stored.

The bike is parked next to a row of what appear to be Super Meteor 650s and, although there’s nothing factual we can say about the bike’s specifications, the pictures give a very clear view of the new machine to choose from.

For a start, it’s not a simple design that will take the Himalayan concept away from its roots, and we already knew that anyway. The style of the bike is very much a case of evolution, not revolution. However, the fuel tank is new and looks much larger than the tank on the previous model.

It’s also the first clear image we’ve had of the new 450 water-cooled engine and, as you’d expect from such a radical change from the previous one (the previous bike has a 410cc air/oil-cooled unit), it’s something completely different. At first glance, the engine case on the right-hand side looks very much like the item found on J-series bikes such as the Hunter 350 and Meteor 350. The elimination of the engine cooling fins has also given it a more up-to-date look (compared to the previous cooling fins), which almost gives the feeling of improving the overall look of the bike.

Another change is the switch to a TFT instrument panel, which isn’t really a surprise. There are a number of new models in the Royal Enfield range with a TFT, and given that this should give the bike turn-by-turn navigation – a must on a modern adventure bike – it can only be a good thing.

The only other thing we can deduce from the pictures is that the frame of the new bike has a USD fork, rather than the telescopic items found on the old machine. We can’t tell if there’s any adjustment at the front, but they are sturdy looking forks, between 43 and 45 mm is what we estimate.

The RushLane team also revealed a supposed date when all the interesting information will be made public, with November 1 rumored to be the launch date. This means that our first chance to see the bike will probably be at the EICMA trade fair in Milan in the second week of November.
