Another first-time winner in the Moto3 World Championship. Collin Veijer achieved his maiden victory this Sunday at the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang after a race in which he consistently held a top position, being one of the protagonists from start to finish.

Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) had a good start to take the lead, but the biggest gainer at the beginning was Jaume Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda), positioning himself in second before the first turn. Ivan Ortolá (Angeluss MTA Team/KTM) took third place.

In the first lap, Masiá took the lead, and Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) moved up to third. Ortolá also lost position to Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo). There was a change of leader on the third lap when Sasaki overtook Masiá, with an almost immediate reaction from the Spanish rider to regain the position. Shortly after, Öncü overtook Veijer and became third.

As is customary in Moto3, the leading group constantly witnessed position changes. With 11 laps to go, Masiá was already fifth, while Sasaki had returned to the top. Öncü and David Muñoz (BOE Motorsport/KTM) were also in podium positions. On the fifth lap, there was a spectacular accident involving several riders, including Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and David Alonso (Gaviota GasGas Aspar).

Unfazed by the incident, the leading group continued the fight. With nine laps to go, Sasaki and Veijer were in the top two positions, and Matteo Bertelle (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) was fourth, behind Masiá. Position changes continued, with uncertainty reigning in Sepang.

In the last laps, six riders stood out in the battle for the win: Sasaki, Veijer, Masiá, Öncü, Bertelle, and José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo). This group was reduced when three laps from the end, Rueda, Öncü, and Bertelle were involved in an incident. The Ajo riders fell, while Bertelle only fell back to ninth.

The battle for victory was thus left to Sasaki, Veijer, and Masiá. In the final lap, Veijer managed to maintain the lead against Sasaki’s attacks to celebrate his first win. Masiá finished third. Ortolá and Muñoz completed the top five ahead of Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda). After the incident in the penultimate lap, Bertelle finished 11th ahead of Öncü, while Rueda retired.

All 18 riders who will compete for the pole position in the Moto3 Malaysian GP have been determined. Collin Veijer, José Antonio Rueda, Xavier Artigas, and Vicente Pérez secured the four spots through the Q1 in Sepang.

After the initial flying laps, Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo), Mario Aji, Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia), and David Alonso (Gaviota GasGas Aspar) held the positions that granted access to the second qualifying. With his second flying lap, Artigas (CFMoto Racing PrüstelGP) moved up to second place before Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) took the lead. Pérez (BOE Motorsports/KTM) then secured fourth place.

Despite Veijer improving his lap time and strengthening his lead, there were no further changes until the end. Veijer, Rueda, Artigas, and Pérez secured qualification, unlike Aji, who finished fifth, just 46 thousandths of a second behind the top four. The Q1 session ended with a dramatic highside from Alonso in turn three, requiring assistance from the marshals.

Taiyo Furusato set the pace in the first qualifiying at the Moto3 Indonesian Grand Prix, making him one of the last four qualifiers for Q2 in Mandalika.

After the initial flying laps, Furusato (Honda Team Asia) was in the lead, ahead of his teammate Mario Aji, followed by Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) and the returning Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda).

The standings changed during the second set of flying laps, but only Fernández dropped out of the top four after Ryusei Yamanaka (Gaviota GasGas Aspar) joined the mix.

Veijer took the lead ahead of Furusato, while Yamanaka improved further to reach third place. Aji dropped to fourth but was still in a position to advance to Q2. However, when Fernández improved in the last three minutes to reach third place, Aji lost his spot in the top four.

Joshua Whatley (VisionTrack Racing Team/Honda) moved up to fourth in the final minute, displacing Yamanaka from Q2. Furusato still managed to outpace Veijer by 0.140s, but the composition of the qualifying positions remained unchanged. Fernández and Whatley also advanced to Q2, a goal Yamanaka missed by 12 thousandths of a second.

Collin Veijer delivered a strong performance in the second practice session of the Moto3 Indian GP, securing the best lap time of the day. He led for a significant portion of the afternoon session at the Buddh International Circuit, being one of only two riders to post lap times under two minutes.

Jaume Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda) initially led the P2, with Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) close behind. This continued to showcase the Spaniard’s strength after his impressive showing in P1.

With less than 41 minutes remaining in the session, José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) overtook Masiá. At this point, Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) was in third place, showing significant improvements compared to the morning session.

Shortly afterward, Veijer also passed Masiá. With 35 minutes left in the session, Masiá suffered a minor crash. Veijer then went on to set the best lap time of the day so far. He became the first rider to complete a lap in under two minutes. Masiá later did the same but was 0.186s slower.

Stefano Nepa (Angeluss MTA Team/KTM) secured third place, with the top five completed by David Alonso (Gaviota GasGas Aspar) and Riccardo Rossi (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda). Holgado finished in 13th place.

Collin Veijer led the third and final practice session for the Catalunya Moto3 Grand Prix, held this morning in Barcelona. His time is the best of the weekend so far.

It was in the dying moments of the session that the Dutch rider from Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP secured the top spot with a lap completed in 1m48.003s. He overtook Stefano Nepa (Angeluss MTA Team/KTM), who was also later beaten by Jaume Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda). The Spaniard finished 0.298s behind Veijer and briefly held the top position during the session as well.

Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) was the rider who spent most time at the front, holding the first position for nearly half of the P3. However, he ended up in fifth place, also trailing rookie José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo).

In the combined timesheets of the three practices, it’s worth noting that Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3), the championship leader, was relegated to Q1 with the 15th fastest time. He missed out on advancement by only 0.005s and didn’t improve from the P2 session.
