Today, Honda published on the brand’s official website the first information about the E-Clutch for motorcycles, the world’s first automatic clutch system* that controls the clutch of motorcycles, allowing smooth starts, gear changes and stops without the need to operate the clutch lever.
With this E-Clutch, Honda uses electronic technology that allows the clutch to be controlled instantly and precisely, thus achieving optimum performance in situations where the driving force changes, for example when starting, changing gears and stopping, resulting in smooth starts, gear changes and stops that are more natural than when the rider operates the clutch manually.
To suit as many riding situations as possible, this system can be used as a normal clutch system, just like on a normal motorcycle with a clutch, by actuating the lever, even when the clutch is electronically controlled. This new type of clutch allows the system to be used by a greater number of riders of different levels of experience and competence, from the most novice to the most experienced, thus allowing the person to concentrate on the pleasure of riding, always in total comfort.
Being light and compact, the system can be installed without making any major changes to existing motorcycles and Honda plans to install its E-Clutch on its FUN range over time.
