In the upcoming season, the team is expected to lose some benefits under a new concessions system that considers accumulated points.

Gigi Dall’Igna, the general manager of Ducati Corse, lamented to GPOne.com that attempts have been made to restrain and penalize the manufacturer when they didn’t pursue the same approach against their rivals:

The irony, so to speak, is that everyone tries to limit us, while on the contrary, we have never requested a rule change. We have always read and applied the regulations, ending up being penalized even when we interpreted them correctly.

After a very complicated start of the season, with an injury that left him off for several rounds, Enea Bastianini has finally showed a bit of what made him earn his jump to Ducati factory this last weekend at Sepang, earning then a lot of nice words from Gigi Dall’Igna.

The General Manager of Ducati Corse looked at this weekend, praising the italian on his Linkedin account: ‘At last, Enea! A wonderful win, a moment of sheer joy for the whole Team! The best way to make his mark after a season troubled by both physical and technical difficulties: a phenomenal race such as he knows how to turn out and of which we all have always been certain, even at the most complicated of times’.

Bastianini’s performance earned more nice words for the italian manager: ‘With all his will to return to being a key protagonist among protagonists, with all the power and determination to immediately take the race’s lead and to impose a fast pace, to then extend that lead, managing it as a consummate champion: I’m happy for him. A sheer talent, that overwhelmingly returns to the fore and dominates a GP more difficult than it may have seemed, with the heat that imposed its gruelling conditions’.

The #23 is 15th in the championship with 76 points added so far.

This sunday marked the return to the wins for Enea Bastianini in MotoGP, the first as a full factory rider and after many problems in showing some of the reasons that led Ducati to bet on him to raise to the factory team.

Gigi Dall’Igna, General Manager at Ducati Corse, was brief on his words towards the italian’s win, but didn’t shy away from showing how happy he was with seeing his rider winning:

– I’m really really happy for Enea. He did a fantastic job all weekend and of course a fantastic race. I’m really really happy for him, he deserve it after a difficult season, after a lot of badluck during the season.

If Jorge Martín is MotoGP riders’ champion, Ducati will see his factory team’s rider – Francesco Bagnaia – lose a fight to a rival from a satellite team. In any case, the champion will be someone riding a Desmosedici GP23 and linked to the Borgo Panigale manufacturer.

Óscar Haro told Paddock TV that, if the Spaniard is the champion, Ducati will still have reasons to be satisfied: ‘Gigi Dall’Igna [Ducati Corse General Manager] has a different mentality. If Jorge Martin wins the World Championship, he will be happy because it will be a Ducati winning and because his project of trusting young and unofficial riders will win’.

There are three rounds left in the season and anything can happen in the fight for the title. Bagnaia leads only 13 points ahead of Martín, and with such small margins it is already evident that even during a GP everything can change.

The arrival of Marc Márquez at Ducati brings ‘challenges’, according to Gigi Dall’Igna, who sees the spaniard as a strong addition to the Ducati squad, with the rider being the most titled at the helm of a Desmosedici. What’s more, the manager believes, the #93 could even fight for the title, something that will depend ‘only on him’.

The General Manager of Ducati spoke about the spanish icon in a conversation with motorcyclenews.com, and said that he believes that next year he will be able to fight for the title, something that will depend on him alone, recalling the work done by Marco Bezzecchi this year. The manager also hasn’t yet confirmed which bike will be used by the future ex-Honda rider: ‘This is still being evaluated, whether it’s that bike or the bike before the latest developments, which is still being analysed. We don’t supply satellite teams with bikes that might have problems. We’ll soon decide which bike they’ll use. Even Bezecchi, with a bike from last year, is fighting for the title this year, so I hope Marc can do it too. It will depend on him’.

Dall’Igna then spoke about managing the riders, which will be a real challenge in itself, he said:

– That’s one of the concerns, one of the challenges. We have to be good at managing strong riders with strong personalities. Apart from Marc, there’s already a concentration of champions at Ducati. We’re going to add one who may be more complicated, having won so many titles, but it’s a job we know how to do.

A lot has been said towards the future of Marc Marquez as the contract he has with Gresini Racing to be of just one year, and some even comes to suspect the former world champion can return to Honda right in 2025 with a lot of information from Ducati, the most competitive bike currently on the grid. However, Gigi Dall’Igna sees this not as a «risks» but something that is just… ‘part of the game’, and recalled Johann Zarco is also going, in 2024, towards Honda’s sphere, with LCR.

The italian was recently in a interview with motorcyclenews.com and spoke about the subject with the french on the tip of his tongue right away: ‘Zarco is going to Honda next year. It’s the same thing, isn’t it? The information, the knowledge, the things he knows, I’m sure he’ll take all that with him’.

Dall’Igna, General Manager Ducati Corse at Ducati Motor Holding, said then this is something that happens all the time, giving the same example on Zarco who, despite being little time at KTM, brought also something with him… and revelead what he considers to be worst: ‘A transfer of knowledge is always present when a rider changes teams. When Zarco came to us, he brought the KTM experience with him. But that’s part of the game. It’s much worse in the case of the Ducati engineers who have gone to KTM’.

The ‘mastermind’ behind the development of the Desmosedici revealed that there had indeed been some talks but that it wouldn’t make sense to change at this point, after working so hard to bring Ducati to the point it has reached.

‘Let’s say it’s something that’s probably normal in a situation like this, we’ve had some conversations. I feel good at Ducati. I’ve worked hard to get to a situation where I’m considered a reference for everyone else, so leaving at this point wouldn’t have been logical’ said the Geral Manager of Ducati Corse in a conversation with motorcyclenews.com, who also considered that the main part of his work with Ducati was done, or at least a good part of it, although he recognised the ‘challenge’ it would be to do something similar for Honda:

– It’s true that I did what I had to do here at Ducati and it could have been a challenge overcome and shelved. I’m sure Honda is an equally interesting and important challenge, but I think it’s logical to continue here after all the hard work.

Marc Marquez and Gresini Racing will form one of the teams that will surely attract the most attention in 2024, and Gigi Dall’Igna is enthusiastic about Nadia Padovani’s team, crediting the italian structure with managing the dossier that culminated in the spaniard signing coming from Honda.

The General Manager of Ducati Corse spoke about the process that led to the former world champion’s move to the team where his brother Alex rides at, in words to motorcyclenews.com, heaping praise on the spaniard’s future team: ‘All credit goes to Gresini, they hired him, not Ducati. It wasn’t long ago that talks began, and I want to reiterate one thing: it wasn’t my idea, it’s something different. It was a team that decided to do a deal with a rider. Once the matter has been cleared up, of course I’m very happy to see very fast riders on my bikes’.

With the motorcycling world very curious to see how the #93 will perform on the Desmosedici – be it the 23 or 24 version – Dall’Igna believes there will be plenty of suspense: ‘Next year we’re going to see some good fights, it’s not going to be a boring World Championship. Marquez is a rider who has won a lot. He’s one of the most important riders in history and I don’t think anyone can say anything about that’.

He concluded, not hiding his happiness at having such competent riders in the team line-up: ‘I have strong riders at Ducati who are doing marvellous things, who are setting records in every race. I’m happy with the riders I have’.

Jorge Martin, there’s no other way of putting it, has been the main highlight on MotoGP in the recent weeks as he amassed more pole positions and race wins than any other rider on the class. This put him as the main contender for Pecco Bagnaia, which earned him also some nice words from the General Manager Ducati Corse at Ducati.

Gigi Dall’Igna resorted to Linkedin to say that this title is coming in the way to Ducati, at the same time noting the last performances from Martin and how he has been much impactful: ‘A title, that of MotoGP, that winks at Ducati, with an irrepressible Jorge: his umpteenth victory between Pole with track records, Sprint Race and MotoGP, an absolute triumph. He put his stamp on everything, confirming an outstanding form in a remarkable “whole” with bike and Team’.

And concluded: ‘A positive weekend for everyone, in various ways, with excellent results that suggest a final scene that all fans of this sport would always wish to see, in the name of sportsmanship and respect between champions’.

This last weekend Buriram hosted a big big sunday of battles on the win for the victory at Thailand where Jorge Martin got to win over Brad Binder and Pecco Bagnaia. Gigi Dall’Igna spoke of the last competition day, considering this to bo be a ‘superb race’, while at the same time the Ducati rider gave it all.

On Linkedin the General Manager Ducati Corse at Ducati Motor Holding began by recalling sunday: ‘A superb race that honours and well represents this fiercely contested end of season, as exciting and uncertain as ever seen in recent years. A podium restricted within mere 3 tenths of a second says it all about a GP lived to the last meter with tight duelling at each lap’.

Bagnaia ended up being promoted to second place after Binder touched the green part of the track on the last lap, being then demoted in one position:

– Pecco started well and tried to manage a race that was immediately combated and that demanded his comeback without room for any calculations and strategies. His was an outstanding race and he was really splendid, recovering many positions until he was able to challenge for the lead with an overtaking attempt that, had it been successful, would have gone down in history as a real masterpiece. Objectively, he gave everything, he was at the very limit and only that extra thrust in the qualifying runs necessary to earn him a better position on the grid was missing.
