Francesco Bagnaia returned to the winning ways this sunday at Mandalika after beating Maverick Viñales who is still looking for his first win with Aprilia, as for Fabio Quartararo, he was again on the podium. The rider’s team bosses already reacted to the race results of this sunday.

Get to know their opinion on what happened with the riders, each from the podium.

Gigi Dall’Igna (Ducati/Francesco Bagnaia): ‘It’s unbelievable. it’s really unbelievable here. He recovered really well during the race and honestly I didn’t expected this kind of race: he pushed, pushed, pushed all the time and we are really really happy’.

Massimo Rivola (Aprilia/Maverick Viñales): ‘It was a real fight for Maverick, at a certain point we saw his rear tyre was gone. He managed well, his pace was consistent, didn’t have the pace from Pecco when he got him. Honestly I thought Fabio had more than him, so he was really good in defending. Wrong tyre choice for Aleix, completely and clearly’.

Massimo Meregalli (Yamaha/Fabio Quartararo): ‘Superb! The race has been long but not long enough, because maybe with a couple of more laps who knows how the race could have finished but I’m very happy. You know what we are dealing with, it is very tough and when you get to the podium anyway it’s a boost because of the work we are doing, even though it’s not visible, but I can garantee we are pushing like hell’.

Miguel Oliveira and a factory seat in MotoGP: ‘Aprilia has the right to offer me one in 2025, not 2024’ https://motorcyclesports.net/miguel-oliveira-and-a-factory-seat-in-motogp-aprilia-has-the-right-to-offer-me-one-in-2025-not-2024/ Thu, 12 Oct 2023 11:12:23 +0000 https://motorcyclesports.net/?p=9271

Honda is effectively interested in securing Miguel Oliveira’s services with a view to 2024 and is «seducing him» with a factory seat, who sees this as the only possibility on the table to have such an opportunity next year, something that is not now possible with Aprilia as he explained. Honda is effectively interested in securing Miguel Oliveira’s services with a view to 2024 and is «seducing him» with a factory seat, who sees this as the only possibility on the table to have such an opportunity next year, something that is not now possible with Aprilia as he explained.

Yesterday Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, clarified to GPOne that a possible clause allowing Oliveira to leave Aprilia in the event of an offer for a team with a factory seat – which is precisely what Honda would be willing to offer – doesn’t exist, recalling: ‘There is no such clause for Miguel. Besides, as he’s practically a «factory» rider, he has a contract directly with us’.

However, the portuguese rider, who said that ‘anything’ is possible when commenting on his future today in Mandalika, explained once again that he will only be able to ride for a factory team again, in the Aprilia universe, from 2025:

– It’s true that Aprilia has the right to offer me a factory seat for 2025 and 2026, not 2024. It’s not bad at all [laughs].

It’s certain that the rumours will continue in the near future, on a day when Gresini Racing confirmed what «everyone already knew»: Marc Marquez will be rider for 2024.

In recent days, Miguel Oliveira has been rumored as the top choice for Repsol Honda to replace Marc Márquez in 2024. This would involve an early termination of his current contract with Aprilia, which is valid until the end of next year.

However, his contract does not include a release clause that would allow him to switch to a factory team. Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, explained this to GPOne.com:

Miguel does not have such a clause. Moreover, since he is essentially a «factory» rider, he has a direct contract with us.

Aprilia’s growth in the last two MotoGP seasons has been evident, now being a contender for podiums. The Catalan GP was marked by their first 1-2 finish, with Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, but championship titles may still take longer.

The CEO of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivola, reiterated to Marca newspaper that becoming champions is the goal, but the team will still take some time to get there: ‘I came to Aprilia because I wanted to win the World Championship with Aprilia. When will we win? In my opinion, we need two years to grow properly’.

The Italian then spoke about the riders, praising both of their qualities: ‘It will be interesting to see what happens with the rider market by 2025, because I believe a lot in stability. So, I like to see Maverick’s growth, how he gets stronger with every race, and his results are becoming more and more consistent. Aleix is in a spectacular shape. Obviously, he knows the bike like no one else because he has been with us for many years’.

Rivola also mentioned the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP riders, Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández: ‘It’s also good to see a satellite team that, with Miguel, in particular, but I’m sure also with Raúl, will arrive, grow, and grow well’.
