Honda is effectively interested in securing Miguel Oliveira’s services with a view to 2024 and is «seducing him» with a factory seat, who sees this as the only possibility on the table to have such an opportunity next year, something that is not now possible with Aprilia as he explained.

Yesterday Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, clarified to GPOne that a possible clause allowing Oliveira to leave Aprilia in the event of an offer for a team with a factory seat – which is precisely what Honda would be willing to offer – doesn’t exist, recalling: ‘There is no such clause for Miguel. In recent days, Miguel Oliveira has been rumored as the top choice for Repsol Honda to replace Marc Márquez in 2024. This would involve an early termination of his current contract with Aprilia, which is valid until the end of next year.

However, his contract does not include a release clause that would allow him to switch to a factory team. Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, explained this to GPOne.com:

Aprilia’s growth in the last two MotoGP seasons has been evident, now being a contender for podiums. The Catalan GP was marked by their first 1-2 finish, with Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, but championship titles may still take longer.

The Italian then spoke about the riders, praising both of their qualities: ‘It will be interesting to see what happens with the rider market by 2025, because I believe a lot in stability. So, I like to see Maverick’s growth, how he gets stronger with every race, and his results are becoming more and more consistent. Aleix is in a spectacular shape. Obviously, he knows the bike like no one else because he has been with us for many years’.
