‘The truth is that our relationship is very good, I’d say he’s the best teammate I’ve ever had, the relationship is very good, we’re all going in the same direction when it comes to developing the bike. We try to find the same things and what’s more, they’re alongside the best rider in the grid’ Mir told Mundo Deportivo.

Marc Marquez, one of MotoGP’s biggest stars, doesn’t hide his admiration for young talent David Alonso. In a sport where competition is intense and each rider is focussed on their own career, it’s rare to see an established rider express such appreciation for a rookie but has clear, on his mind, who is the favourite to take the Moto3 world championship.

‘I watched Alonso’s performance and I couldn’t help but applaud him. He has shown impressive skill and determination since he entered the world scene’, said Marquez in an interview with AS. He recalled Alonso’s early days at the circuit: ‘I remember when he was just a rookie, coming to me for advice. He was always humble, wanting to learn and improve. That’s something I really value in him’.

With 205 points, Alonso is level on points with Holgado, while Sasaki, with 213 points, is in second place. Masia, with his vast experience, leads with 230 points.

Marquez, however, believes in Alonso’s potential: ‘He needs to trust in himself and believe that he can reach the top. Of course, there are riders like Masia, who have much more experience and are seen as favourites. But Alonso has something special. This is his debut year, and he’s already making a name for himself. I sincerely wish him every success’.

Alonso’s journey in MotoGP has only just begun, but with the support and praise of riders like Marquez, the future looks bright for the young rider.

Fermin Aldeguer’s recent display at the Moto2 Thailand Grand Prix didn’t go unnoticed, especially by the trained eyes of specialist Alex Criville.

‘Aldeguer was absolutely brilliant in Thailand’, began by Criville speaking to Marca. ‘From the start, he set a blistering pace, taking pole position, recording the fastest lap and finally securing victory. His ability to leave a rider of Acosta’s calibre three seconds behind is a testament to his talent and determination’.

The Boscoscuro team has every reason to be proud of its rider, who with this victory has further cemented his place as one of the emerging talents to watch in Moto2. ‘With two wins this season, Aldeguer is clearly showing that he’s not here to make up numbers. He’s growing as a rider and his evolution is evident’ added Crivillé.

However, the former rider also had words for Pedro Acosta, the category leader: ‘Acosta is an intelligent rider. He knows when to take risks and when to play it safe. Right now, with the title at stake, he’s thinking strategically. And, as we’ve seen, he’s very good at it’.

Criville concluded with a note of anticipation for the upcoming races: ‘With riders like Aldeguer and Acosta showing their worth, the end of this season promises to be exciting’.

Fabio Quartararo has no problem in saying what he thinks and is surrounded by uncertainty towards the next season, admitting that he won’t be a MotoGP title contender in 2024.

‘No doubt about it. My goal as a rider would be to be able to fight for the championship, but I have to be realistic because I know that in 2024 we won’t have the chance to fight for the World title’ said the frenchman, who is counting on Yamaha to evolve in the coming season.

‘If we want to at least have the chance to fight for the podium and victories, I think we’ll have to take a step, it’s a realistic goal for me and also for Yamaha, a real personal goal for me’, said Quartararo, who still doesn’t want to talk about his contract with the japanese brand, which expires at the end of 2024.

No-one was indifferent to the thrilling Indonesian Grand Prix. In the opinion of Alex Criville, former rider and champion in the now-extinct 500cc category – now MotoGP – it was one of the most exciting races of recent times.

‘It was one of the most exciting races this season. If it’s true that on saturday, after winning the Sprint, Jorge Martin was the main candidate to win, unfortunately the joy was short-lived. Bagnaia was very consistent, he knew how to manage the race and the tyres worked perfectly and helped him return to the lead. We should point out that Pecco started in 13th place, which made life very difficult for him, but he still managed to recover and keep his concentration until the last moment. Under pressure and despite the circumstances, it’s not easy to win. What he did was admirable’ commented the former rider.

Despite the 18-point cushion that Pecco has over Martinator with five races to go, anything can happen, Criville believes.

‘It was a shame for Jorge Martin to crash when he was leading, nobody likes to go through that. The world championship is very exciting and will be won by the rider who best manages the pressure on and off the track. Vinãles’ second place was sensational. We couldn’t have asked for more. It was motorcycling in its purest form’, he told the daily Marca.
