About the Black Summoner Anime

The voice cast for Black Summoner is impressive in both its Japanese and English iterations. Manaka Iwami (Tohru Honda in 2019’s Fruits Basket) and Bev Megato bring Efil, a half-elf bought by Kelvin, to life in the Japanese and English versions, respectively. The Goddess of Reincarnation, Melfina, is Kelvin’s companion and serves as an interactive game menu until she creates an artificial body. Reina Ueda (Kisa Sohma in 2019’s Fruits Basket) voices her in the Japanese version, and Tia Ballard (Yashiro Nene in Toilet-Bound Hanako) in the dub. Sera, the daughter of the former Demon King Gustav, is brought to life by voice actors Minori Suzuki (Japanese) and Alexis Tipton (English). Rion, a reincarnated hero summoned by Kelvin, receives their voice from Yume Miyamoto in the original Japanese anime. Gerard, a Blackghost Knight, is a monster contracted by Kelvin, who Yōsuke Akimoto (Dokuroxy in Maho Girls PreCure!) voices in Japanese and Bruce Carey in English.

Black Summoner is an isekai anime that tells the story of Kelvin, a young man reincarnated in a new place with the goddess Melfina serving as his guide and servant in the form of an interactive game menu. Kelvin has no memories from his previous life — the result of bartering them away for the advanced magic of a Summoner. Unfortunately, despite his skills, Kelvin has to start as an ordinary adventurer to prevent him from drawing too much attention to himself. He learns about his hidden disposition as a battle maniac as he adventures. Whether he’s fighting the Black Knight of the Ancient Castle of Evil Spirits or the demon from the Hidden Cave of the Sage, Kelvin finds that he revels in battles against formidable opponents.
