The Asian leg of the MotoGP season is being positive for Fabio Quartararo, who got some of his best results of the year so far – including two third places – during this period. Now, the Monster Energy Yamaha rider wants to close this phase of the season in the best way possible at the Qatar GP.
The 2021 world champion said to the press that he is coming optimistic to this weekend: ‘Basically the Asian round was quite good, with good results – apart from Australia, where I really felt bad on the bike, all the results were good. So of course I’m optimistic and hopefully we can finish in the top five/top six – it would be great in this track’.
Asked if he has to be aggressive in the first lap of the races, Quartararo explained that the most important is to go directly to Q2 from the Friday’s practice: ‘You always push yourself at the limit from the beginning, but especiaally the goal of every weekend now is not even the qualifying – is to be on the Q2 from Friday. Because if you check, many, many times in Q1 the lap times are super, super fast. The lap time that [Fabio] Di Giannantonio did in Q1 [at Sepang] was 1m57.8s and in Q2 if you did 1m57.8s you would be fifht or sixth. So, the most important is to be ready from Friday afternoon’.
